I'M A TEACHER, ASPIRING AUTHOR, AND A PRESCHOOL MAMA  WHO HAS A THING FOR KID LIT.

hi, i'm betsy!

I fiercely believe that children need to grow into empathetic, imaginative, and curious learners, and that together we have a responsibility to collaborate, not compete, to get them there.

Through Tiny Roots Co., I strive to bring meaningful, creative, and rigorous "evergreen" resources into the hands of passionate teachers, families, tutors, librarians, and anyone else desiring to maintain engaging and complex literature instruction ensuring students reach unexpected and energizing depths.

My resources are designed to enhance the instructional creativity of teachers and meet a variety of student needs through flexible and engaging content.

There are three things I cherish most about teaching:

1. Capturing kids' hearts and nurturing a safe, engaged learning space.

2. Celebrating our uniqueness and learning from our differences.

3. Digging into good, hearty children's literature and watching it tug at a kiddo's heart strings.

I've taught in Chicago, Detroit, Ypsilanti, and Ann Arbor in Preschool, 2nd and 4th grade classrooms, and most recently I served as the Interim Program Director at a cooperative preschool.

Chicago taught me to question. Detroit taught me to advocate. Ypsilanti taught me to nourish. Ann Arbor taught me to expand.

I believe children learn best while exploring our world collaboratively and holistically with hearts rooted in confidence and intrinsic motivation. These attributes are the key to growth, and I cherish the honor of helping to strengthen these roots.
